As if being in Nickelback wasn’t a beleaguered enough proposition on its own, Nickelback drummer Daniel Adair has reportedly been the victim of identity theft. According to People, a Florida man, Lee Howard Koenig, was arrested this week after allegedly using Adair’s identity and information to buy close to $25,000 worth of drum equipment. After Adair was notified of the considerable purchase by Nickelback’s business representative, law enforcement determined that neither the email nor IP address used to complete the sale were linked to Adair, with the latter coming from Koenig’s Florida residence. Apparently, Adair also did some sleuthing of his own, determining that Koenig drums in three local bands, using a drum setup very similar to Adair’s own. Koenig is facing two felony fraud-related charges. If imitation is indeed the sincerest form of flattery, Nickelback may want to warm up to its reputation as is.
