The new Power Rangers movie might not even be playing in theaters yet, but series creator Haim Saban already has the next five movies mapped out, according to a new interview with Variety. “Think about movies like Jungle Book and Arrival,” he said. “The effects are mind-boggling. So does the young audience expect more? You bet they do — and they will have it.” For those who didn’t keep up with the franchise past the 1990s, Saban has been producing new versions of Power Rangers in film and series formats for decades. The most recent incarnation, Power Rangers Ninja Steel, came out this year. The man knows how to stretch the life of a franchise, and he’s not wasting this big-budget opportunity to put the Rangers back in the pop-culture conversation. Even if the new movie hasn’t made a dollar yet, Vulture was pretty pleased with the product (and commitment to product placement), calling it “surprisingly great.” Here’s to at least five more years of Bryan Cranston as an outstanding animated wall relief.
