Bill Murray, the Rogue, Tries Bribing Minor League Baseball Umpire With Cold, Hard Cash

By

Bill Murray is used to doing things his own way, so when you put him in the middle of a situation bound by the rules of mere mortals, things are likely to go a little haywire. And so it was when the sportsball fan threw the first pitch at the opening day for the Charleston RiverDogs, a Minor League team of which Murray is a co-owner and “Director of Fun.” Taking the title very seriously, Murray tried to ensure a good time for all by greasing the umpire with some cold, hard cash. The ump resisted, and the RiverDogs ultimately suffered a 6-3 defeat at the hands of the Lexington Legends, showing that if your morals aren’t Murray’s, they ain’t worth much.
