Hari Kondabolu has a new documentary heading to truTV soon, and today the network released the trailer. Titled The Problem with Apu, the feature-length documentary follows Kondabolu as he “confronts his long-standing ‘nemesis’ Apu Nahasapeemapetilon – better known as the Indian convenience store owner on The Simpsons. Through this comedic cultural exposé, Kondabolu questions how this controversial caricature was created, burrowed its way into the hearts and minds of Americans and continues to exist – intact – 27 years later.” Check out the trailer above, which also features actors and comedians like Aparna Nancherla, Kal Penn, Aasif Mandvi, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Hasan Minhaj, and more. truTV hasn’t announced a premiere date yet, but it’s expected to air sometime in the fall.
