Here’s a clip from last night’s Late Night, where Seth Meyers takes “A Closer Look” at how Trump has managed to turn even his condolence calls to Gold Star families into an opportunity to brag about himself, which is in turn an opportunity for Fox News to shower him with positive coverage on television like Lou Dobbs’s recent “interview” with him (“Usually when you see an old dude slobber that much he has a nurse with him,” Meyers says). But as Meyers points out, when Fox News isn’t airing a softball interview with Trump, they’re trying to turn the Russia investigation into a Hillary Clinton scandal. Yep, the “real” investigation is definitely about Clinton colluding with the Russians and not Trump’s pee tape Sean Hannity loves to mention over and over to his viewers. “Fox News would much rather talk about Hillary than Donald Trump. That’s because the right in the Trump era doesn’t have coherent principles or an ideology – it just has enemies,” Meyers says. “Which is why they prefer to inhabit an alternate reality where Hillary Clinton is president.” Watch the full segment above.
