Jimmy Fallon is taking the week off to mourn the death of his mother. According to Entertainment Weekly, this week’s tapings of The Tonight Show have been canceled following the news that Fallon’s mother Gloria passed away on Saturday at the age of 68. NBC also canceled Friday’s episode so Fallon could be at the hospital with his family, and the news of Gloria’s death broke yesterday. “On behalf of everyone at NBC, we extend our deepest condolences to Jimmy and all his family at this time of enormous loss,” an NBC rep said in a statement. “Our hearts go out to Jimmy and everyone else whose lives were so touched by Gloria Fallon’s love, kindness and support.”
Fallon’s fellow late night host Stephen Colbert – who similarly had to cancel tapings of The Colbert Report prior to his mother’s death in 2013 – tweeted out his support for Fallon yesterday:
