Next month, the Spike TV network will be rebranded as the Paramount Network starting January 18th, and one of the projects in development includes a Latino sketch comedy series. According to Deadline, the half-hour sketch series, titled Browntown, is in the works from Doug Greiff and Beatriz Acevedo. The series will take place “in a fictional, predominantly Latino neighborhood designed to reflect today’s diverse America.” Here’s more info on the project from Deadline’s report:
Each half-hour episode will feature recurring characters from the Browntown neighborhood, and revolve around a central theme designed to bring awareness and celebrate issues that are especially relevant to Latino youth in America. Episodes will consist of studio-based sketches, digital shorts, music parodies, animated shorts, and more.
The cast has not yet been announced, but it’s expected to feature a mix of “emerging comics, improv actors, popular social influencers and celebrity cameos.”
