Ahead of the season 2 debut of Bill Nye Saves the World on Netflix tomorrow, here’s a sneak peek from the show featuring special guest Michael Ian Black as 19th-century physician Ignaz Semmelweis, whose whole theory that “Hey, maybe doctors should wash their hands after touching dead bodies?” was way ahead of its time – to the point where Semmelweis’s ideas were dismissed by other doctors and he was ultimately locked up in an asylum at the end of his life: “In my day, you came to the hospital giving birth and you left in a body bag. Whatevs!” In other words, it’s a weirdly fitting clip to close out a year like 2017.
