Forget the pie that came before, forget what used to be, the past is on the cutting room floor, for Waitress, the future is here: McPhee. With all the enthusiasm of people on Twitter who won’t let the classic NBC musical drama and often unintentional comedy Smash die, the Broadway musical Waitress has cast Katharine McPhee (a.k.a. lesser Marilyn and star of Hit List Karen Cartwright) in the lead role of Jenna. She’ll sing about pie and sadness in the musical from April 10 to June 17. Smash fans will be thrilled! (Just kidding, Smash fans won’t be satisfied until Megan Hilty is starring in an actual production of Bombshell, and probably not even then.)
