Showtime Is Making a Halo TV Series

Showtime has announced that Otto Bathurst will direct their new series Halo, based on the Xbox game franchise of the same name. Bathurst has previously directed several episodes of Peaky Blinders, as well as Black Mirror, and he made his directorial feature debut with last year’s Robin Hood starring Jamie Foxx. Awake’s Kyle Killen will serve as the executive producer, writer, and showrunner. According to Showtime, their television adaptation of Halo will draw directly from the gaming series, dramatizing an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant. But it will also weave deeply drawn personal stories with action, adventure, and a richly imagined vision of the future, which probably means the main character will, at some point, take off their helmet.
