Nephews and the Aunts Who Love Them Finally Get Their Due on SNL

During Kit Harington’s Saturday Night Live hosting debut over the weekend, we were treated to an extra-special performance by Aidy Bryant written by Anna Drezen, in which two types of people are finally honored with the attention they so deserve: nephews and the aunts who love them. Bryant stars as the aunt who hosts the 19th annual Nephew Pageant, which hands out the award for the best nephew of the year: “Why celebrate nephews? Well, they’re fun little scamps and they’re not yours!”

Cecily Strong, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones deliver excellent performances as the proud aunts, while Kyle Mooney, Mikey Day (who no longer likes geodes, so stop giving him geodes), and Chris Redd portray the wonderful little nephews up for this year’s award. But the most award-worthy person of this whole ceremony is definitely Bryant’s character, who sings her heart out for the love of nephews with lyrics like “Nephews, nephews, they’re everywhere and sweet / Big ones, small ones, teeny and tall ones / I’ll send ya 20 bucks in the mail!”
