“I really love love songs. I feel like they’re the best way to have a human express true emotion,” Cynthia Erivo says, so she’s built a whole concert set list around them. “I love ballads. I love music that allows people to feel emotion. My intention was to use the night to tell love stories. I wanted to find pieces that were wonderful representations of how we as human beings love.”
Erivo’s concert is part of the Live From Lincoln Center series Stars in Concert, and it’ll air on PBS on May 10. Among the love songs the singer and actor chose for the night was a rendition of “I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You.” “It’s a classic, and I think it’s a wonderful way to tell someone that you love them completely,” Erivo said. “I’ve definitely been in a position where you fall in love almost by accident, you don’t mean to, but it happens.
