Allow Patti LuPone and Bridget Everett’s to Ease Your Mind With ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ Duet

There’s no crossover event quite like a duet between Broadway icon and Twitter user Patti LuPone and cabaret star Bridget Everett. At the New York Philharmonic’s Spring Gala, such an event came to pass, as the two sang “Bridge Over Troubled Water” alongside Michael McElroy and the Broadway Inspirational Voices led by Patrick Vaccariello. LuPone’s set list also included a variety of songs for which she’s best known, including “I Dreamed a Dream,” “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina,” “Everything’s Coming Up Roses,” and “Meadowlark,” of course. “In these strange and difficult times, what I think about most is the world we’re leaving our children,” LuPone said to introduce “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” “They are demanding change, and I can’t help but feel we are letting them down. This song is dedicated to them — our promise of support, to hear them, to never forsake them.”
