Anthony Jeselnik Hates Television, But His New TV Show Looks Pretty Great

Anthony Jeselnik’s busy year is about to get busier. In addition to releasing a new Netflix stand-up special Fire in the Maternity Ward back in April, the comedian returns to Comedy Central in September with the premiere of his new talk show. Titled Good Talk With Anthony Jeselnik, the six-episode series is part of Jeselnik’s development deal with Comedy Central and features the stand-up interviewing a lineup of his comedy friends: Nick KrollTig Notaro, Natasha Leggero, Kumail Nanjiani, Kristen Schaal, and David Spade, the host of Comedy Central’s newest late-night show, Lights Out, debuting next week. In addition to chatting with the guests about topics like stand-up and “what it’s like to live in his massive shadow,” Jeselnik and his guests also “participate in elegantly bizarre studio segments” in the show.

The first trailer for the series dropped today, in which Jeselnik prepares us with everything we need to know thanks to the opening line: “Welcome to Good Talk With Anthony Jeselnik, the show so easy to make it got me back on television. And baby, I hate television.” Catch the rest when Good Talk premieres on Comedy Central Friday, September 6, at 11 p.m. ET.
