It’s a big day for CGI fur! HBO released the trailer for its His Dark Materials series at San Diego Comic-Con’s storied Hall H. The trailer features all of the famous adults and CGI animals that the Philip Pullman adaptation requires. It’s up to li’l orphan Lyra (Dafne Keen) to uncover the secrets and lies swirling around Lord Asriel (James McAvoy) and Marisa Coulter (the perfectly sociopathic Ruth Wilson). Well, it’s up to her, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and an armored polar bear. A joint venture between HBO and the BBC, His Dark Materials is one of the most expensive dramas in British history. And it’s about magic animal friends! His Dark Materials stomps into the north this fall.
