Fulfilling our collective need for movie musicals about singing competitions starring Demi Lovato, Will Ferrell has cast the pop star in his upcoming Netflix comedy film, Eurovision. Ferrell confirmed her casting in a birthday shoutout on Twitter. Lovato will star as Katiana, one of the best and most angelic singers in Iceland. This is Lovato’s first live-action movie appearance since the Camp Rock franchise. Eurovision will also feature Pierce Brosnan, Dan Stevens, and Rachel McAdams, alongside Ferrell and Lovato. Come to think of it, “Ferrell and Lovato” has quite a good ring to it. Perhaps our generation’s Nichols and May? Only time will tell, as Netflix has not yet revealed a release date.
