Derek Waters is returning to Comedy Central with another season of his Emmy-nominated series Drunk History. The network announced today that it’s handed out a renewal for a seventh season of the show, which comes less than a month after its sixth season wrapped up. Last season featured appearances from Amber Ruffin, John Early, Vanessa Bayer, Will Ferrell, and many more, and like the sixth season, the seventh season will consist of 16 episodes.

In addition to the Drunk History renewal, Waters has signed a first-look deal with Comedy Central, in which he’ll develop content both for Comedy Central’s TV and digital platforms. “Derek Waters has repeatedly proven his comedic genius as a creator, actor and director across multiple platforms through our hit Drunk History. That series merely scratches the surface of his creative output and we’re so excited to develop even more projects with him through Comedy Central Productions,” Comedy Central execs Sarah Babineau and Jonas Larsen said on the news. Added Waters: “I couldn’t be more excited about this new relationship with Comedy Central. They took a chance on me and have been fantastic in supporting Drunk History over the past six seasons. I look forward to creating thoughtful, entertaining and hilarious programming.” Cheers to Derek Waters on two good shots of news in one day!
