Freshman comedy South Side is sticking around at Comedy Central for another season. The network announced today that it’s handed out a season-two renewal to the series, which was ordered back in 2017 and is currently airing its debut season on Wednesday nights. Set in the Chicago neighborhood of Englewood, the workplace comedy centers on two recent community-college grads who get stuck working at Rent-T-Own, “a retail-rental crossroads where the South Side’s vast ensemble of characters come together. Despite the obstacles of inner-city life, these friends and their co-workers all strive to achieve their entrepreneurial dreams.” Bashir Salahuddin and Diallo Riddle are among the co-creators of the series, and they’re also the duo behind IFC’s new musical-comedy series Sherman’s Showcase, which, like South Side, debuted last month. Your move, IFC.
