J.J. Abrams's mysterious approach to marketing had his movie overshadowed by the show-it-all superhero trailers.
"You have to check [out the trailer]. But it has nothing whatsoever to do with 'Cloverfield'."
We have exclusive details on the trailer for the J.J. Abrams–produced 'Super 8,' which will unspool at 12:01 am Thursday night in front of 'Iron Man 2.'
The film, allegedly titled 'Super 8,' is not directed by Abrams, is probably unrelated to his project with Steven Spielberg, and is maybe a 'Cloverfield' sequel.
It is an homage to Spielberg's earlier "everyman in extraordinary situations" movies like 'Jaws' and 'Close Encounters'
Abrams said he'd do a 'Cloverfield' sequel if he could come up with a good enough idea. So far, no luck!
How are we supposed to get excited about a J.J. Abrams product without a secret, impossible-to-understand advertising push which has absolutely nothing to do with said product?
