If you’d had told us that the best Björk video in years would be made by a nonprofessional filmmaker without any input from the increasingly obtuse Icelander herself, well, we’d definitely have believed you. So, while we can’t say we’re surprised at the high quality of the winning entry in the singer’s make-me-a-video contest for her new single “Innocence,” we can point out that it’s awesome, and easily the most visually impressive four-and-a-half-minute film soundtracked by a Björk song that we’ve seen since Michel Gondry got too famous to make music videos. Here’s hoping that she finds a competent amateur to make her next album too.
