Terry Gilliam’s Heath Ledger Movie Still Sounds Crazy, But Now in a Good Way

Following intense speculation over what would become of Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, the film Heath Ledger had half-finished before his death last month, Ain’t It Cool News is reporting that Ledger’s role will be completed not just by Johnny Depp (as rumored) but also Jude Law and Colin Farrell, all of whom will pay tribute to the departed star. In the film — about a traveling carnival that “offers audience members the chance to transcend reality” — Ledger’s character purportedly passes through a magic mirror and enters a fantasy world (or something), and since only his reality-based scenes have been shot so far, it’s plausible he could be played by another actor in the remaining ones. We’re not sure which plot elements lend themselves to an I’m Not There–style ensemble cast, but we’re actually pretty excited to see how Gilliam pulls it off.
