In this week between hurricanes — with Gustav just passed and Hanna churning in the Atlantic — Danica Novgorodoff’s graphic novel Slow Storm is eerily relevant, telling as it does the story of how severe weather affects a firefighter and an illegal immigrant over the course of one long and violent night. It’s also just plain eerie — Novgorodoff’s watercolors capture the angry and ominous sky evil weather brings, as well as her vivid characters.
Slow Storm comes out this week from First Second.
