The world is still reeling this morning after last night’s announcement of the astonishingly non-terrible Grammy nominations. Lil Wayne leads the field with eight, followed by Coldplay with seven, and Jay-Z, Ne-Yo, and Kanye who tied with six each. M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes” scored a nod for Record of the Year, Estelle’s “American Boy” got one for Song of the Year, and, as an additional awesome bonus, Katy Perry was shut out of the Best New Artist category. Hilariously, though, with all these hip young whippersnappers in contention, it’ll make it even easier for the Grammys’ elderly voters to select artists they’ve actually heard of — like Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, whose Raising Sand will definitely beat In Rainbows and Tha Carter III for Album of the Year.
