Online Pirates Trading Oscar Screeners

Jesse Rieser’s South City St. Louis (2008).

Love movies? Want to feel like a voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences? Have loose morals, a broadband connection, and lots of hard-drive space? If you answered yes to any of those questions, you’re in luck! As they do every year, rips of DVD screeners for many of this fall’s big Oscar hopefuls (plus Quantum of Solace, hilariously) have already leaked online and are currently being traded on peer-to-peer networks. A cursory Vulture investigation reveals that ones for Frost/Nixon, Milk, Changeling, Gran Torino, and Cadillac Records are all pretty much readily available — not that we endorse that sort of thing! (If anybody finds Rachel Getting Married, let us know.)
