U2’s “Get On Your Boots,” the lead single from March’s No Line on the Horizon has, predictably, been murdering international radio since its release on Monday. We like the fuzzy guitar line and really like Bono’s sort-of dig at himself (“I don’t wanna talk about wars between nations / not right now”), but the supposedly sexy come-on ultimately comes off as a perfectly serviceable “Vertigo” retread that is perhaps most notable for not yet having been forcibly shoved down our throats. (Which means we’re not quite committed to purchasing all five versions of Horizon.) And, as far as songs about telling someone to put their boots on go, we still prefer this one.
