Michel Gondry Returns Flight of the Conchords to Its Former Glory

If you were wondering why the songs on this season of Flight of the Conchords haven’t been so great lately, it’s probably because they were saving all the good ones for Sunday night’s episode, which was directed by low-budget surrealist Michel Gondry. “Too Many Dicks on the Dance Floor” and “Carol Brown (Stick Around)” weren’t just the two catchiest FOC jams in recent memory — they also had the best visual accompaniment, with Gondry turning Bret’s head into a speaker for one, and recycling an awesome special effect from his video for the White Stripes’ “Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground” for the other. It was almost enough to make us forget Be Kind Rewind and the previous four episodes of Flight of the Conchords. Click for video!
