We’re as sensitive as the next unreconstructed emo boy to the cliché of telling introspective indie rockers not to be such pussies, but man, Benjamin Gibbard: The video for his band’s prettyish “Grapevine Fires” has to be the most disturbing animation outside of Hentai — and it’s about as conducive to feelings of romantic love. We won’t spoil it for you, since you might be browsing this site for a trigger to swallow a fistful of prescription meds, but there is a forest fire that encroaches on a suburb, and it does not end as nicely as that season of Weeds you may recall.
