No, that is not Eminem’s face rendered in rice pilaf on the just-unveiled cover of Relapse — those are pills! Lots and lots of them! Probably illegal ones! So, after first introducing his comeback album with the whimsical piece of doo-doo “We Made It,” what’s Em trying to tell us now? Maybe just that, like all his other albums, the rest of Relapse will be way darker than its terrible, radio-pandering first single? That in the five years since Encore, enough messed-up stuff has happened to him to turn him back to the tormented soul on his best, early stuff? That he’s as crazy and sad and screwed up as ever? Actually, maybe that is just rice pilaf.
