Another Clash-Rivaling Classic for Rancid

Although the album will be horrible, we won’t begrudge Green Day’s imminent No. 1 spot for 21st Century Breakdown. Instead, we’re looking ahead to the June 2 release of Let the Dominoes Fall, Rancid’s first album since 2003, which will include this song, “Last One to Die,” a quintessential — which is to say, pleasure-centered, endlessly listenable — Rancid tune. If Green Day have become overanxious yappers, Rancid are pop-punk’s big dogs, one of those laid-back breeds that carry a hint of danger. The no-budget video’s a bit cheesy, and that’s perfect: There’s no matching the track itself.
