Broadway Vet Rocco Landesman Nominated for NEA Chairman

The White House is expected to announce that they will be nominating Rocco Landesman, the well-regarded (and, at times, outspoken) producer responsible for bringing smash hits like The Producers and Angels in America to Broadway, for the position of chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts today. Landesman will have to be confirmed by Congress, but if it were up to Tony Kushner, he’d get through with ease. “It’s potentially the best news the arts community in the United States has had since the birth of Walt Whitman,” Kushner told the New York Times.
