The Tonys’ administration has announced it will discontinue the award for Special Theatrical Event, which was won two weeks ago by Liza Minnelli for her Liza’s at the Palace (she beat Will Ferrell) and was meant to honor miscellaneous shows that don’t fit neatly into play or musical categories.
