A month ago, Vulture asked Ghostface Killah to describe his upcoming eighth solo studio album, The Wizard of Poetry. To which he told us: “I wanted to base it around The Wizard of Oz. I was passing the chuckle patches and all that stuff like that, doing everything till I got to the Emerald City, and meeting the person that was like God, you know what I mean?” To be honest, we had absolutely no idea what he meant, but it all makes a little more sense today, now that we’ve seen Poetry’s magical, just-unveiled cover art. If the creativity and loving attention to detail that so obviously went into designing this disc’s dazzling packaging are any indication of the quality of the music contained within, then we’re all in for a very happy September 29.
