The most powerful force in book-selling who’s not a vampire, wizard, or symbologist has spoken: Having finally finished The Story of Edgar Sawtelle, Oprah announced today that her new Book Club pick is Uwem Akpan’s Say You’re One of Them, a feel-good collection of five short stories set in modern Africa and told from the perspective of children living amid war and famine. This is Oprah’s first-ever short-story collection (and Akpan’s first-ever book). One of Them is published by Hachette, which also handles the Twilight series and could really use the money.
