Lil Wayne to Release Three Albums This Year?

We think we know why Lil Wayne’s been having so much trouble putting out Rebirth — he’s been working on two other albums at the same time! According to Wayne’s heterosexual life partner Birdman, “He’s coming with the rock album and Tha Carter IV. It’s gonna be a double disc … and the Young Money album [a collaboration with other artists on his label] all on the same day.” And that day, says Bird, is December 15. Yes, December 15, 2009.

In an interview with Tim Westwood, Wayne clarifies that Tha Carter IV will be its own release, but that Rebirth may be packaged with the new album from Young Money. We know it’s hard to believe that a guy who’s been dragging on releasing one album will manage to release three by the end of the year, but it does make sense, sort of: First of all, putting Rebirth out with the total-afterthought Young Money crew album is the first indication that even Wayne realizes that nobody wants to hear him play guitar. Also, the Young Money disc shouldn’t be too hard to make, since they can probably just slap together a few Drake hooks with some old Wayne verses and call it a day. Still, though, — three albums? Who does he think he is, Ryan Adams?
