We interrupt this blog to annoy you and make things generally irritating: On October 15, at Manhattan’s Ziegfeld Theater, all six original members of seminal BBC comedy troupe Monty Python will gather for a rare in-person reunion (according to reports, Graham Chapman’s death in 1989 will not hinder his participation). They’ll be there for a Q&A following a screening of their new career-tracing documentary, Monty Python: Almost the Truth (The Lawyer’s Cut) — and we’re giving away a pair of guest-list spots!
Based on the success of our recent Britney Spears poetry contest, we’ve decided to ask Vulture-reading Python fans to compose a haiku about their favorite Flying Circus sketch. Leave your best seventeen syllables (that’s five, seven, and five per line) in this post’s comments by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7. Winners will be notified shortly thereafter and, as a bonus, will receive a DVD copy of Almost the Truth (which will air on the IFC channel the week of October 18 to 23). Losers will be poked with the soft cushions. Good luck!
