out on the weekend

Pretty Photos From This Weekend’s Concerts, Starring Devo, Sonic Youth, and the Dirty Projectors

We know you can’t be everywhere at once, and that’s why you have us: The latest edition of our concert slideshow, “Out on the Weekend,” features photos from performances by Devo, Bishop Allen, Dinosaur Jr., Javelin, Sonic Youth, Sleigh Bells, the Feelies, tUnE-YaRdS, and Dirty Projectors, with awesome surprise appearances by Curren$y, Mos Def, and David Byrne. Clicking through is like actually being there, but with less sweat and cheaper beer.

At the opening night of Tribeca venue Under 100 on Friday. A note from the photographer, Erez Avissar: “Under 100 happens to be Damon Dash’s office basement. Dash’s entourage rolled through in full effect and got down to Sleigh Bells and Javelin. At one point Curren$y and Stally took the mike to rhyme over Javelin tunes. Later in the evening, everyone went upstairs to watch Javelin’s set in Dash’s office, and there was talk that both parties wanted to further jam. Next thing you know, everyone is downstairs in the mostly empty venue again and Mos Def et al. are jamming with Knyfe Hyts and Javelin. Shame you can’t capture the aroma of weed smoke on camera … “
