Body Identity Integrity Disorder is a neurological condition that makes a person want to amputate one or more of his limbs. It’s also the topic of Armless, the debut feature from director Habib Azar, and a 2010 Sundance Film Festival selection. In the trailer, a shy fellow named John talks to his girlfriend and a doctor about how he’d like to have his arms cut off. Then he goes to a hardware store where he may or may not buy a circular saw to do it himself. Yikes! Bizarrely, the whole thing is handled with some levity. Sure, it’s about a guy who wants to lose his arms, but that doesn’t mean there can’t be some quirky indie pop playing in the background. Still, it looks too weird to miss.
