Vulture buddy Nikki Finke reports that Fox bought Robert Rodriguez’s Danny Trejo top-lined Machete, based on the fake trailer from Grindhouse and co-starring Lindsay Lohan, Steven Seagal, and Robert De Niro. What’s more interesting is that the Weinstein Company — who lost their shirts with Grindhouse and had a first-look deal for the movie — passed because “we saw the footage and it’s not very good at all.” Hard to imagine, but okay.
