Drake Quits Rapping

Drake’s debut album, Thank Me Later, still doesn’t have a release date, but it does have two singles. The first, “Over,” was a big, catchy number, full of “who the fuck are ya’ll” type cockiness. “Shut It Down,” which leaked earlier today, is basically the complete opposite: Drake teams up with The-Dream and drops the swagger, focusing instead on his singing chops (he doesn’t even rap once!) in crafting a subdued, direct R&B ballad. It’s a throwback to some of his downbeat mixtape work, most notably stuff like “Houstatlantavegas,” and is coolly, calmly executed. So, ladies, are you feeling Drizzy?
