Anchorman director/co-writer Adam McKay has revealed the prognosis for a sequel looks grim, tweeting today, “So bummed. Paramount basically passed on Anchorman 2. Even after we cut our budget down. We tried.” McKay had previously said that stars Will Ferrell, Steve Carell and Paul Rudd had agreed to take pay cuts in order to shoot the movie, which was to begin production in February.
