Intervention From Ryan Seacrest Keeps Tantrum-Throwing Bowersox on Idol

TMZ reports that American Idol’s dreadlocked, didgeridoo-playing, ostensible front-runner Crystal Bowersox walked off the show two weeks ago (this would have been the week she did “Midnight Train to Georgia,” we think) because she hates all the attention. “What’s the point?” she reportedly said, while throwing an attention-getting tantrum. Then Ryan Seacrest saved the day by promising her money.

Says TMZ:

Ryan told Crystal that being on Idol was like starting a business, and if she won she’d get a recording contract and become a millionaire. Seacrest sealed the deal by telling her, “The greatest thing I ever did was make enough money so I could buy my mom a house. You can buy your mom a house.”

In other Seacrest news, in an interview with the L.A. Times, he laughs off criticism over that uncalled-for Brian Dunkleman joke he made on Tuesday: “That was just for fun. Again, not scripted. I was just thinking in my head, two locations, two hosts? And he’s the obvious host. [Laughs.]” If Seacrest wants to set things right, he should probably buy Mrs. Dunkleman a house.
