Shock: Conan Goes to TBS!

Boom! Conan O’Brien will return to late night this fall, but he won’t be on Fox — he’s just signed an eight-figure deal with TBS (“bigger than any other deal he’s ever had,” says the Wrap’s Josef Adalian) for an 11 p.m. show that will air four times per week and debut in November on the cable network. Conan says in a press release: “In three months I’ve gone from network television to Twitter to performing live in theaters, and now I’m headed to basic cable. My plan is working perfectly.” As with any plan, there are casualties …

George Lopez’s late-night TBS show, Lopez Tonight — which currently airs at 11 — will be bumped to midnight. Luckily, Lopez isn’t mad: “I can’t think of anything better than doing my show with Conan as my lead-in,” he says in the release. “It’s the beginning of a new era in late-night comedy.” So no need to start that Team Lopo Facebook group … yet.
