ABC May Take Scraps From CBS

Just doing some ghost whisperin’.

According to Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva, two CBS shows — The Ghost Whisperer and The New Adventures of Old Christine — could be jumping to ABC. Christine might go because CBS is so high on its current comedy pilots that it’s looking to dump all half-hour shows not named How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, or Two and a Half Men and plug in three new comedies in the fall instead (Sorry, Garry Unmarried and Accidentally on Purpose!). Apparently ABC has been trying to lure Christine over for three years, so it’d be a truly heartwarming tale if it actually ended up happening this time. Meanwhile, Whisperer might make the leap partially because it’s co-produced by ABC Studios (as Andreeva points out, that’s more or less what happened when the CBS Studios–produced Medium went from NBC to CBS) and partially because nobody really watches TV on Friday nights. So why doesn’t CBS just cancel it? Well, for one, Whisperer does “very well internationally.” Which proves, conclusively, something we’ve always held to be true: Jennifer Love Hewitt is irresistible in any language.
