Industry Roundup: Ellen Page, Jemaine Clement

Breaking Free: Ellen Page will be starring in Freeheld, a film based on a Oscar-winning documentary about the true story of Stacie Andree (Page), a New Jersey car mechanic, and her police detective girlfriend, Laurel Hester, who struggle to secure pension benefits after Hester is diagnosed with a terminal illness. Ron Nyswaner (Philadelphia) will be writing the script. Clearly, Page has matured from relationships primarily based on orange tic tacs. [HR]

Back to Black: Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords) will be playing the villain Yaz in Men in Black III, which also stars Will Smith, Josh Brolin and Tommy Lee Jones. Is it too much to hope for a third-act “Yaz’s Lament” ballad? Probably. [Deadline]

Mom Dramz: New Line is in talks with Adam Shankman, Jennifer Gibgot and Jill Messick to produce Mean Moms, which will bear “some resemblance” to 2004’s classic Mean Girls. Dara and Chad Creasey will be writing the script, an adaptation of Rosalind Wiseman’s 2006 parenting advice book. The film will begin with a family moving to a new town, where a happily married mother of two is faced with the “cutthroat world of competitive parenting.” Let’s hope she packed pink for Wednesdays. Temple The Queen: Juno Temple is in negotiations to play the queen in the 3D version of The Three Musketeers directed by Paul W.S. Anderson (not to be confused with Doug Liman’s competing upcoming version). The cast already includes Logan Lerman, Ray Stevenson, Luke Evans, Matthew Macfayden, Christoph Waltz and Milla Jovovich. Temple has appeared in Greenberg, and recently filmed Dirty Girl, but we have a feeling she got this role because of her regal last name. Yep, definitely because of that. [HR]

Wait Almost Over: The 11th album from The Roots, How I Got Over, will be released on June 22 after several delays. The disc will feature a Joanna Newsom sample and a cameo from My Morning Jacket’s Jim James. Drummer ?uestlove revealed the info via Twitter, his favorite means of communication. [Pitchfork]

Paradis Lost: Vanessa Paradis will star in Café de flore, a “time-spanning love story” directed by Jean-Marc Vallee (The Young Victoria) in his return to French-language films. The movie will include two stories: one about a mother of a child with Down syndrome in the 1960s, and the other about a present-day couple. Paradis will be in the “sad” story - she’ll play the mother. [HR]
