In a rare crowd-pleasing move, Live Nation will change the name of the Fillmore New York at Irving Plaza — so bestowed three years ago, in an attempt to expand San Francisco’s Fillmore into a nationwide chain — back to just plain old Irving Plaza. Also, the current marquee will be taken down to be replaced by a replica of the old one. This is good news both for (a) people who fear Live Nation, especially after its merger with Ticketmaster, as an out-of-touch corporate behemoth, and (b) people who never quite stopped calling it Irving Plaza anyways.
