McDonald’s has been selling $2 souvenir cups celebrating Shrek Forever After. They’ve been popular: The fast-food chain has sold 12 million of them, and they’re all laced with the toxic metal cadmium. At the urging of the Consumer Product Safety Commission — who discovered the cups were cadmium laced thanks to an anonymous tip to a congresswoman — McDonald’s has issued a voluntary recall. Earlier this year, Wal-Mart had to recall some of Miley Cyrus’s jewelry line for the same reason. So, to play it safe when it comes to keeping poisonous metals out of your child’s mouth, don’t buy promotional products intended for them. [Chicago Breaking News]
