Boom! Sony has just announced that Andrew Garfield — the 26-year-old star of Boy A, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, and David Fincher’s upcoming Facebook movie, The Social Network — will play Peter Parker in Marc Webb’s 2012 Spider-Man reboot. An excellent choice! Thanks to everyone else for playing — and who knows? Maybe a couple of you will still be young enough to audition the next time the studio reboots the franchise. (In seriousness, this presumably says much about Sony’s confidence in Garfield’s Social Network performance, which we already expected to be excellent.)
