Five years after the release of her Extraordinary Machine, it looks like Fiona Apple may finally be gifting us with a follow-up. A recent Modern Drummer profile of Charley Drayton - a New York-based drummer, bassist, and producer - contains this nugget: “Among Charley’s current projects is playing, co-producing, and mixing Fiona Apple’s upcoming record, scheduled to be released in the spring of 2011.” Furthermore, singer Michelle Branch confirmed Apple has recorded some new material, tweeting: “Hate to brag but I heard a couple new Fiona Apple tracks today.
