In May, former Us Weekly editor Janice Min was hired as editorial director of The Hollywood Reporter. Next month, the biggest change of her tenure will begin, with THR transforming from a trade paper published five times a week into a weekly, glossy magazine. With the reboot, THR is trying to move away from being an inside-baseball publication: It’s hoping to attract a “larger slice of the advertising market,” looking for “beauty, fashion, consumer electronics and liquor,” and not just entertainment industry, dollars. It’s also intended to appeal to more than just entertainment-industry execs, but “opinion leaders, early adopters and taste makers who set consumer trends.” We cannot wait to hear what Nikki Finke has to say about this.
