Tony DiSanto Leaves MTV to Start Production Company

MTV programming president Tony DiSanto and his top programming executive, Liz Gateley, will be leaving the network after twenty years. The duo is departing to form a production company that will be backed by Ben Silverman’s Electus. Head of scripted programming David Janollari, who joined the network in July, is expected to take DiSanto’s place. DiSanto has recently helped MTV rebound with reality hits Jersey Shore and Teen Mom, while Gateley is credited with “being the driving force” behind the success of Laguna Beach and The Hills earlier in the decade. DiSanto and Gateley are expected to remain with MTV through the end of the year to help with the transition. [HR]
